Term 3, 2022

The Rongotai College Board has made the decision that wearing face masks is compulsory inside school buildings as a health and safety measure until further notice.

A decision will be made later in Term 3 on how long this will continue. This decision was made due to the increased incidence of winter flu and other viruses (including COVID) that were – and still are – are circulating across the country. This position has been reinforced by the Ministry of Education, who recently asked all school Boards to require mask wearing in all indoor settings in schools.

It is our expectation that students will supply their own masks, and should be wearing them on public transport to and from school.

We continue to keep all the other health measures in place at school that we know slow the spread of COVID-19 and winter illnesses. These include ensuring our indoor spaces are well-ventilated, insisting on good hand hygiene and cough and sneeze etiquette, appropriate physical distancing whenever we can and, most importantly, staying home if sick.
