Sports Update – Week Ending 20 May

Pre-season is over and we are into the season. We need to make sure you are well planned and organised.   As Mr Hall said last week, set yourself up for the game by turning up on-time and ready to go.

We have had some great performances over recent times.  Congratulations to THEO BRAY who won a bronze medal in both the Individual and Double Mini Trampolining events at the NZ Secondary Schools Nationals – awesome work Theo!

Last week ETHAN BUCHANAN swam in the Div 2 National Age Group Champs in Dunedin.  Ethan won 7 races including the 400 & 200 freestyle, 200 IM, 100 & 50 butterfly, 200 & 100 backstroke – great work Ethan!

Badminton
The Senior A team bounced back from last week with a 4-2 win over Onslow, tonight they take on HIBS at the Naenae Hall at 4pm – good luck fellas!

Basketball
The Junior A’s went down 50-71 to St Pats, next week they are away to HVHS.

The Senior A’s had another tough one this time against powerhouse Scots, going down 118-73. Tonight they take on St Pat’s at home at 6pm – get down and support the brothers!

Football
The 1st XI took on Scots in our first home game of the season and went down 4-1 with Declan Ward scoring in the 88th minute. Tomorrow they take on Kapiti away at 10.45am.

Rugby
The 1st XV played a very good Napier Boys High and went down 27-0, the game was closer than the score line suggested. This weekend they go into camp for their final preparations for the season.

The U15 A side had a 36-17 win over Mana, good luck to all team for the weekend.

Hockey
The 1st XI had a solid performance first up against Paraparaumu going down 3-1 after being 1 – 1 for a large part of the game. Tonight they take on Tawa College in the graveyard shift at 8pm at the National Stadium – come down and support the lads after backing the basketballers.
