If you fail to prepare, you are preparing to fail. This weekend highlighted the time and effort your coaches have put in behind the scenes to prepare you each weekend. Some fantastic results have come out of the weekend but this is only just the beginning.
FOOTBALL
Congratulations to our 1st XI who in the past fortnight have qualified for both the Youth Premiership grade AND the Lotto Premiership which consist of the top 32 teams in the country. The boys followed up their 2-1 win over Wairarapa College to secure a place in the Youth Premier grade with a 3-2 win over Rathkeale College on Saturday with goals from Rhiley Bell (2) and Will Smith. Grainger Scott played superbly in goal, making several outstanding saves to ensure the win. Saturday they go over the hill as they take on Wairarapa College at 10..45am.
HOCKEY
On Friday last week the 1st XI took on Onslow College. Onslow went up 2-0 before Rongotai made a comeback. With just under 3 minutes to go in the game Suneel Patel picked up the ball 60 metres from goal and went on a run that saw him eliminate 6 defenders and the competition’s second best goalkeeper (behind our very own Rohan Patel) to score his second goal of the game and the go ahead goal to see RC win 4 – 3. Tonight they take on Scots College at 5pm – Good luck boys!
RUGBY
The 1st XV took on powerhouse Scots College last Saturday. It was a game of two halves. The XV played some clinical rugby and took the lead early in the second half. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to maintain the pressure they mounted in the first 40 and Scots ran out winners 39-15. While this was not the result they wanted, it was nonetheless a solid performance. Tomorrow they take on St Bernard’s for the Jim Ting Cup at Rongotai – good luck!

Three swimmers competed over the weekend at the North Island Secondary Schools’ Champs. An amazing effort saw Rongotai finish 6th out of 38 schools!
