Sports Update – 8 February 2019

Congratulations to all the boys who participated at the Rongotai College Athletics Day on Monday. The boys who have made it through to the finals next Tuesday are listed outside the PE office and on the Sports noticeboard. Please meet directly at the track on the morning. Athletics training for all boys wanting to get bigger, stronger, faster and fitter are welcome to athletics training on Monday and Thursday after school and Tuesday/Wednesday lunch times.

The summer sport season opened last Saturday, with the 1stXI cricket team starting their season with a loss against Paraparaumu College 1stXI on Saturday by 8 wickets. Well done to Afa Fa’ave and Shaun Eaton and who top scored with 36 and 30 respectively. They play Newlands College 1stXI on Saturday at Newlands.

The Senior water polo side started their season with 2 games last night. They lost 12-4 to an extremely strong Palmerston North Boys High School before beating St Pat’s Silverstream 10-1 in their second match.

The Junior A and B and Senior A and B futsal sides will be posted after lunch on the sports noticeboard. Well done to all the boys who trialled. All other teams will be posted early next week. 

Floorball trials are on next Wednesday and Thursday lunch times in the tin shed for Juniors and seniors respectively.

Junior volleyball team has their first practice/trial in the gym at lunch time today with their first game next Wednesday.

Today is the last day for summer sport registrations, if you haven’t already signed up, you need to act fast.
