Tuesday 3 March was the annual McEvedy Shield here in Wellington.
There were some notable performances from the Rongotai team. Our 63 points, represents a 66% increase from last year where we achieved 38 points. This was our highest points total since 2015. We closed the gap between 4th and 3rd to under 30 points for the first time since 2007.
Overall, our boys had 28 top 4 placings. We also had a number of outstanding individual performances, and we would like to highlight 4 boys in particular:
- Mikey Tutaki, who was 1st in U15 Shot Put
- Braydon Hawkins-Martin who was 1st in U15 High Jump
- Tane Robinson who was 1st in U14 Javelin
- Zayd Adam who placed in all 5 events he competed in, gaining 12 points
Well done to the McEvedy team, their captain Georgio Toulis, and a special thanks to Mr Carey for his leadership of the McEvedy group and to his team of coaches for their great work.
