Jamal Fiso was announced as Rongotai College Head Prefect for 2020 at Prizegiving on Thursday 5 December.
Jamal is a fine young man. He is an outstanding academic, having gained NCEA Level 1 with Excellence in 2018 and going into external exams this year had already gained Excellence at Level 2. At Prizegiving, he received multiple awards across many areas of school life, including community service and class distinction awards and an academic prize.
Jamal has been a real leader across a range of cultural and community service activities his entire time at Rongotai College. He is a living embodiment of the Samoan phrase O le ala i le pule o le tautua – the pathway to leadership is through service. His service to the school includes being the leader of Interact, a member of the Student Council and being the student representative on the Board of Trustees. Jamal is also the Youth Member of Parliament for the Rongotai electorate.
