On Monday 6 September, the Prime Minister announced that schools will be able to open for ALL students from Thursday 9 September. We are therefore looking forward to welcoming Rongotai College students back onto our campus on Thursday. We are asking all students to be at school by 8.50am on Thursday and to report directly to their Form Rooms, where we will have a live-streamed school assembly. We expect boys to be in the correct school uniform and clean-shaven. We would ask them not to congregate in reception or the corridors.
At Alert Level 2, the Ministry of Health has outlined that schools are safe environments for children, young people, and staff. We will be implementing processes that will enable us to ensure that we know who is at school and who our staff and students have been in close contact with. We will also be taking enhanced hygiene and cleaning measures to keep everyone safe.
Our Health and Safety Plan outlines a range of processes that we operate during Alert Level 2. These include:
· Following appropriate hygiene processes
· Use of hand sanitizer
· Contact tracing through attendance checking and requiring students to stay on-site during the school day
· Encouraging students to bring devices to school.
Please note: At Alert Level 2, the wearing of face coverings in schools is highly recommended. However, this is not mandated for use when in schools. It remains an option for individuals and a decision for the individuals and whānau. Where an individual chooses to use a face-covering they should supply and wear their own, and to do so safely.
And finally, If your child is unwell could you please email attendance@rongotai.school.nz or log the absence via the Skool Loop app. In addition to the reason for the absence please indicate the date your child will be returning to school or email the school on a daily basis until their return. A text will be sent to the parent/caregiver each day students are absent without notification.
